Alone, Together

We sit, side by side,
looking together
feeling alone.
Where did we lose
the togetherness of us?
The loneliest times in my day
are spent with you
wishing for one small glimmer
of the we we used to be.

  1. Artfully simple and sad. I'm sure this poem evokes a vivid memory for everyone who reads it-- mine is on a park bench on 11th and Pine in Philadelphia. I love "the loneliest times in my day are spent with you" and "the we we used to be" especially. You're off to a beautiful start. Happy NaPoWriMo!
